This past weekend I had to spend the day at the Animal Hospital Emergency Room as one of our cats developed a urinary tract infection. Sitting there talking with and listening to the love people had for their furbabies, just like me. One of our babies, Mr Mittens, has a sensitive stomach and some possible food allergies, so we have been trying to find foods that will calm his stomach and that will make him feel better. While there are quite a few organic foods out there, I am looking forward to trying some of the recipes I have gathered that are for cats using my Pampered Chef products. So today, I thought I would share a few recipes for those of you who are cat parents (or slaves to your cats) and those who are dog parents.
They are as much members of our families as our human members. So here are a few ways to create mealtime memories with and for your furbabies. Hope you enjoy making some of them and your babies enjoy eating some of them.

*Cinnamon is fine to use in recipes for dogs, however do not use a pumpkin spice blend or anything that could contain nutmeg. It is toxic to dogs and even in small amounts can make them sick.

Homemade Peanut Butter & Bacon Dog Treats
Because your pup deserves some home baked goodies too!
Yield: depends on the size of your cookie cutter
Prep Time: 10
Total Time: 45 minutes, plus cooling
Ingredients:
• 1 cup natural creamy peanut butter
• 3/4 cup nonfat milk
• 1 large egg (or 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce)
• 2 cups whole wheat flour*
• 1 Tablespoon baking powder
• 1/3 cup oats (either whole-rolled or quick oats are fine)
• 2-3 strips bacon, chopped
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325F degrees. Two large Stoneware cookie sheet # 1343 use your Reversible silicone baking mats # 1732. Set aside.
In a large batter bowl # 2431, gently mix the peanut butter, milk, and egg together with a Scoop & Spread # 1679 or Classic Scraper # 1650. Switch to a Stainless whisk # 2475 or Pastry Blender # 1686 to make sure no lumps remain. Add the flour and baking powder. You may need to turn the dough out onto the counter and use your hands to work in the flour. Mix in the oats and chopped bacon. The dough is extremely thick and heavy.
Using a Baker’s Roller # 1485, roll the dough out into 1/4″ thickness. Cut into shapes using Creative cutters # 1095 or a Pastry Cutter # 1684. Arrange on the Stoneware cookie sheets # 1343. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until very lightly browned on the bottom. Remove from the oven, and flip the treats to bake the other side for 10-12 more minutes.
Allow to cool completely before serving to your pup. Store at room temperature or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Treats freeze well, up to 2 months.
*Unbleached all-purpose flour is safe for dogs, but whole wheat was more highly recommended by our vet because of its added health benefits. Again, please consult with your vet about any allergies your dog may have.
Adapted from Pet Guide
Combine the simple ingredients together in a large Batter bowl # 2431. Yep, this is a one Batter bowl recipe. The dough will be extremely thick and hard to form, so use your hands for ease. Roll it out into 1/4″ thickness and use Creative cutters # 1095 to make shapes. I used cookie cutters . Clearly your dog won’t care about the shapes. The cute shapes are really just for the humans.
The size of the treats should be based on the size of your dog. Jude is the size of a bear, so the big treats are perfect. We still break them up for him.
Arrange the shaped dough onto your baking sheet.
The dog treats won’t spread in the oven, they just puff up very slightly. The treats can be close together on your baking sheet.
Bake one side for 18-20 minutes. Until very lightly browned on the bottom. Remove from the oven and flip. Bake for 10-12 additional minutes.
Allow the treats to cool completely before sharing with your furry bud. Jude was going NUTS from the way our apartment smelled. Pure doggie heaven.
Before beginning, please check with your vet about any allergies your dog may have. If you have any questions or concerns about the ingredients I used, please consult with your vet.
